When a box is opened, previously hidden items are unveiled. So, this dream can be a symbol of intellectual exploration because you are discovering the contents of your psyche. If what you find in the box displeases you it may refer to your fears or aspects of yourself that you want to hide. In case of a safe, what you keep in there will be your most precious intimacy, possibly, your best qualities. In the Greek myth of Pandora's box, the malignant part of the woman who wants to have everything is represented. The oneiric-psychological analysis of this story establishes it represents man's fear for the dark and feminine side of his nature. It can also refer to the way the unconscious projects the complex and negative attitudes in real life. If you force a safe in order to open it, the omens say you will not marry the person you currently love. If it is empty, you will get married soon; and if it is full, late.

Types of sleep
There are two types of sleep that most of the humans undergo - REM and NREM. REM refers to the Rapid Eye Movement and NREM refers to Non-Rapid Eye Movement. Every individual will alternate these two types of sleep. Non-REM sleep will occur for a short period of time in the first stage of your sleep followed by the REM sleep. Dreams occur during the REM stage, where it lasts for 20 minutes. According to a researcher, J. Allan Hobson, dreams that occur in REM stage are usually forgotten when the individual wakes up. Studies conducted on patients during sleep shows that the frontal lobes in the brain, that are responsible for storing information, are inactive during the REM stage, which is the main cause for forgetting the dreams. Studies also show that this is the stage where you have the most intense dreams.
Body reactions during sleep
Most of us must have experienced hallucinations or night mares. When we experience such dreams we are unable to move or react. This stage is referred to as sleep paralysis. This type of dream occurs in between wakefulness and REM. As it occurs during the REM stage, it causes complete muscle weakness preventing the individual reacting to the dreams.
